After adding the attention bar on my site in July 2011 to show the article “iWeb and Beyond” I had a lot of people on the comments, forum, facebook, and Twitter requesting to post a tutorial on how to add an attention bar to their iWeb sites.  So this tutorial is on how to do just that.  First off let’s explain what an attention bar could be used for.  Of course I used it to on my site to get peoples attention and make sure a certain article I wrote got read.  It’s pretty hard to miss.  You might also use it to let your viewers know that your site will be experiencing some matainance, or perhaps you have a big deal or sale on your site, or you could use it for advertising, or if you really just need to get your viewers attention.  So there are some ideas for how you could use this.

Watch the video above the “How To” or you can view the text tutorial by going here.  Below are the resources you’ll need:

Hello from France and excuse me for my English!
First, thank you for all your tutorials … really great job to help us develop our sites and we realize that everything can be possible with iweb and especially with people like you …

I have a problem of integration of shadowbox on a blog page: it does not work! So I just use fancyzoom for images and video for Flowplayer …
Also, I would like to use the latest version of JW player with the module ‘with stylish flvplayer skin “http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player-setup-wizard?example=244
but I do not know the way to create a playlist of videos … is this possible??

Again thank you very much to share knowledges

The tutorial is excellent! But when you insert a widget (HTML Snippet) erases the code that incerta directly on the HTML page. What would be the solution?

I found a way to get around this,
make a new page in iWeb, same background but make the height of the page 30px and the width the same as your website. public it to your folder and open the html file whit text wrangler or something else, paste the pop up code in there.
Go to iWeb and go to the page where you want the announcement. add a html snippet paste this code ” Your browser does not support IFRAME ”
change the url whit the url of your new iWeb page, change whit and height. publish your site.
      sorry for my english

Hi. Im sorry if I misunderstood the title of this Video.. but it doesn’t really show how to add a comment box in iWeb. but how to make a comment box outside of iWeb, because this comment box is not workable with iWeb at all. intact it disappear when iWeb is used.
and for those who have other html snippets on there site it will also disappear when this bar is added, such as Facebook like buttons and forms built outside of iWeb.

iWeb is unfortunately very limited, also for this bar. =(

Hi, I had a question and was hoping you could help. I use iweb to create my sites. When I edit the html codes in Coda editor and save, I go to the site files and everything work the way I want it to, such as adding the attention bar, but when I publish the site through web crusher it goes back to the iweb work without my extra html codes.. I really need to figure this out. Please, if you could help me out!

    Hello!
It does not work on a page made in iWeb with HTML elements.
I have that page with table made in HTML. I’d like add to this page attention bar. I follow those instrations above but a table simply vanishes.
In another page it works great!
